Was a little disappointed by this attraction.
After reading about it in the local travel guides, and having it recommended to us, we should have known better than to go.
There is a reason it is so popular and that is because it is the perfect place to take people who are not accustomed to hiking in a rainforest, or actually going anywhere unassisted.
The pool itself was quite nice and very picturesque, but the trail and surroundings were too 'managed'. After being to several of the other attractions on the island, where you had to hike in to see them, I got the feeling that I was at an 'official' attraction at a park where someone made sure that everything was in its proper place.
It felt like I was on a canned tour, which explains why it is so popular with older cruise ship visitors. Consequently it can get crowded quickly.
Found the entrance to the visitors centre without any difficulty (big sign at the road). There is a little snack bar, vendors, benches and large seating areas where visitors can relax before making their way to the pool.
The trail itself is manicured, and it is very boring. Dominica is a nature island and a lot of the charm is making your own way to the attractions. While the trail may have been properly laid out specifically to cater to cruise ship passengers (wide trail with proper steps cut into the slope and handrails) this is what has spoiled the effect of the attraction itself.
Regardless, it is set up for large crowds and there are much better attractions throughout the island to visit.
Given a choice, I would definitely miss this one.
