Detailed review by Mikesh
A great historical building that has not been maintained.
History:
Built by Akbar during his reign. It took 15 years to be built. It was the 1st well planned city under Mugul rule. He made the place in honor of the sufi(holy man) that lived there and who had predicted he would have a son there. This son of Akbar survived unlike the previous two. Parts of the forts have places built in honor of Akbar's different victories. They shifted out of this as being a capital due to water shortage.
Getting there: Private taxis or buses ply every hour.
Guide: there are a lot of official guides, or hire your guide for the day or local people wanting to be your guide for cheap.
Place: The place is like a market and not at all maintained though it being a UNESCO World Heritage site. The place has some really good architectural building which consisted of a mixture of Persian, Indian and Islamic architecture. There are shops which sell things, bargain a lot there as they are over priced. The place took us about 1.5hrs as were on a tight schedule, we could have spent way more time here. We liked the place and were happy we didn't miss it, but it wasn't anything extraordinary.
