[more]The Masseria Salamina is only 7 km from the sea and it is the ideal place to live a vacation in the countryside, made of nature, genuine foods and old-time charm. It was erected on an earlier building and is a 17th-century fortified farmhouse.
Masseria Salamina is the name that the farm has always had, at least since 1600, when Joseph Salamina provided for plants on more than 494 acres (200 hectares), the actual olive trees, which today are about 400 years old. In the following centuries there were some changes in order to conform the imposing structure to the agrarian necessities of the time, without modifying the appearance. There is a church presenting the form of a Latin cross. Probably the church was restructured in the 1792 when it was enlarged on an earlier cult-building.
Today, in the different wings of the masseria, there are three different kinds of lodgings, each one with its own architectural style in accordance to the original destination of the building.
