Offered as a gift for the GDRs 750th anniversary, the park was renamed the Gardens of the World in the Recreational Park Marzahn in 1991. The zoo shelters over 1000 animals, which are looked after by 14 zoo keepers. It is open from 9am until 5pm in the winter and until 6.30pm in the summer months.
