[1krispy1, 05/10/2008] Recently my girlfriend and I thought it would be fun to go to Rocky Mountain National Park and take in a hike. We really had no destination or route planned but rather we thought we would "freelance it" once we got up to the park.
Upon arrival we thought we would take in Bear Lake and make a decision from that point as to where we would hike. We did not quite make it when nature called we found the Glacier Basin park and ride and it was equipped with a loo we could use. [1krispy1, 02/09/2007] It is the Labor Day weekend, the first weekend in September and a perfect time to take a ride over the rooftop of Colorado. I packed up the car and headed out for the Trail Ridge Road Scenic Byway. This is U.S. Highway 34 going from Estes Park, Colorado to Grand Lake, Colorado. The road travel extensively through Rocky Mountain National Park and is the highest continuous paved highway in the United States. [1krispy1, 18/02/2007] Rocky Mountain National Park has been one of my favorite places to visit for the better part of my life. Living in Denver it is only about an hour's drive to the entrance of the park.
The park provides a great opportunity to get about and enjoy the back country. I particularly enjoy hiking. Rocky Mountain National Park is one of the most visited areas in the State of Colorado; there are thousands of people in it at a time. Yet after about a 2km hike most of them are left behind. Once again full enjoyment of the wilderness is there to be had.
