, 18/02/2007] Rocky Mountain National Park has been one of my favorite places to visit for the better part of my life. Living in Denver it is only about an hour's drive to the entrance of the park. The park provides a great opportunity to get about and enjoy the back country. I particularly enjoy hiking. Rocky Mountain National Park is one of the most visited areas in the State of Colorado; there are thousands of people in it at a time. Yet after about a 2km hike most of them are left behind. The author states they "fell in love" with Rocky Mountain National Park "when I was young". It "remains a favorite" spot for vacations. The author finds "the views breathtaking", particularly in winter "when the peaks" are shrouded in snow. The favorite activity of the author is watching "wildlife". The "elk rutting season" was particularly a favorite "in September". This was due to "male elk bugling" while contesting harem rights by "locking antlers" with their adversary.
