It could be so much better!
The greek restaurant "Artemis Speise" is in the centre of Essen, 10 minutes on foot from the main train station. It is easy to find it.Just ask where Gänsemarkt 44 (45127 Essen) is.
A friendly person will welcome you for sure at the entrance of the restaurant. Most of the times it is full, so maybe you will have to wait a bit at the bar. After a while the waiter will come and lead you to the first available table.
The decoration is so old fashioned! People used to decorate their restaurants like that in the 70s.Ok I am myself greek and I understand the need of the owner to promote the greek culture and the greek spirit, but not like that!!!!!!
Durind your lunch/dinner in Artemis you are surrounded from statues in all kind of sizes watching you...as if they want to ask if your dinner was good enough or not.
And what is that with the PLASTIC FLOWERS everywhere!!!!? Mama mia!
As far as the food is concerned I have nothing negativ to remember. The quality and the quantity was really good. The only I have to claim- always as a greek- is the fact that the menu is quite germanised (made in this way,so that it can fit better to the german food preferences).
The prices are ok.Not expensive but not cheap either.
It is worthy to visit Artemis Speise restaurant if you are into greek kitchen and if you find yourself in Essen.
Just a last suggestion: Order the "Musaka" dish and you will not regret it!
Enjoy your meal! Kali oreksi (in greek )
