The Millennium Galleries (11.07.2007 15:31)
The Millennium Galleries in Sheffield were recently created as part of the Heart of the City project, which is an ongoing rejuvenation project in Sheffield that is partly funded by National Lottery money. The Millennium Galleries opened in the Spring of 2001. They are situated right in the middle of Sheffield's City Centre, adjacent to the main Central Library Building. From the outside [more...] -
Heeley City Farm - Sheffield, United Kingdom
Heeley City Farm (10.07.2007 20:35)
Heeley City Farm is an inner City Farm project in Sheffield that began back in 1981. In those early days a group of dedicated volunteers set about clearing two acres of derelict land and rubble and transformed it into what it is today. Those same individuals successfully registered the project as a Charity and with help from the Sheffield City Council and later funding, from the EEC and [more...] -
Sugar Mill Ponds Nature Reserve - Goole, United Kingdom
Sugar Mill Ponds Nature Reserve (10.07.2007 09:20)
Sugar Mill Ponds are located just outside the Village of Rawcliffe Bridge, about five miles to the West of Goole, in the East Riding of Yorkshire. This site covers an area of approximately twenty five acres and is one of the finest examples that I have seen of a former area of unsightly Industrial wasteland transformed into a tranquil, picturesque haven for Wildlife. This site is now a [more...] -

The South Yorkshire Transport Museum (09.07.2007 19:56)
The South Yorkshire Transport Museum can be found at Aldwarke, near Rotherham in South Yorkshire. Until recently this transport museum was located in the former Tinsley tram sheds between Sheffield and Rotherham. I visited here about 4 years ago and it was then called the Sheffield Bus Museum. Now it has relocated, it has been given a new name, the South Yorkshire Transport Museum. The former [more...] -
Rotherham Minster - Rotherham, United Kingdom
Rotherham Minster (09.07.2007 09:23)
Rotherhams largest Church is known as the Rotherham Minster and dominates the Centre of this South Yorkshire Town. Until recently this Church, which is as large as many Cathedrals, was known as All Saints Parish Church. This change in name was to reflect its importance as a Church in the region and also marked the culmination of a major restoration project. The Town of Rotherham grew up along [more...] -
Church of St Michael and All Angels - Hathersage, United Kingdom
The Church of St Michael and All Angels (08.07.2007 21:23)
The Church of St Michael and All Angels stands high on a hillside above the Derbyshire town of Hathersage. I have passed close by to this Church on many occasions, but it is only very recently that I undertook a small detour off the main road to visit here. All over the County of Derbyshire there are many wonderful Churches and this is one of the finest examples of them all. The Church is [more...] -
Pavilion Gardens - Buxton, United Kingdom
The Pavilion Gardens (08.07.2007 12:03)
Buxton is a Spa town in Derbyshire, right on the edge of the Peak District National Park. People have come here since medieval times to enjoy the healing properties of the towns natural springs, and even before then it was a Roman Spa town. It is however probably true to say that it was during the Victorian era that Buxton was really transformed into a league of its own, and the resort began to [more...] -

Creswell Crags - Worksop, United Kingdom
Creswell Crags (05.07.2007 19:25)
Creswell Crags are fairly local to me so over the years I have visited this place several times. The whole area is a Limestone Gorge scattered with Caves and small Fissures but these Caves hold secrets dating back to the Ice Age. The remains of Animals and Stone Tools found in the Caves here have proved that people lived in these Caves during the Ice Age, some 50,000 years ago. Creswell Crags [more...]
