[micksheff, 08/08/2007] The Elsecar Heritage Centre is situated in the small, former mining village of Elsecar about 12 kilometres to the south of Barnsley in South Yorkshire. It is described as a Heritage and Craft Centre and since it opened it has won numerous awards.
I often try and make a point of visiting such attractions as I find that it is an excellent way to learn about the local area and since entry into the centre is free there really is no excuse to not visit this place whilst in the area.
The centre is located within an old colliery workshop and ironworks that once belonged to the Earl Fitzwilliam
