Tolquhon Castle is located near Ellon and approximately 24km from Aberdeen. Although much of the building is in ruins, the exterior walls are largely intact and features include an ornate gatehouse. Much of the castle dates from 1584, though the original tower was constructed in the early 15th century. Opening hours are from 09h30 to 17h30 daily throughout April to September; the rest of the year it is open on weekends only from 09h30 to 16h30. The ground floor and grounds is accessible to wheelchairs and facilities include a shop. |
