Egyptian Museum

Centrally located and open daily from 09.00 – 18.30, this museum features more than 100 000 exhibits which include the treasures from various pharaohs’ tombs. Although only a copy of the famous Rosetta-stone is on display (the original being in London), there are many sarcophagi and other valuable items. For an extra fee of approximately 10 Euro visitors can also view a separate chamber which contains 11 mummies, including that of Ramses II.

Temple of Horus

This temple is the second largest in Egypt after Karnak, and the best preserved. Dedicated to Horus, the Egyptian god with the head of a falcon, it was begun in 237 BC and completed in 57 BC.
