[more]The Marmara island is the largest island in Marmara Sea. Located opposite to Avsa island;Avsa island is, more popular then Marmara, it is a calm and non touristic place, not commercial and very peaceful. The name 'Marmara' comes from the wealth of great marble deposits that are found on the island. Much of the marble used in the building of Agia Sophia by the emperor came from the marble quarries on the island. An example of this marble is to the Herculean Sarcophagus of Genzano now in the British Museum.Our Hotel has 80 beds, but we also offer bungalows for extreme cheap prices, which can be regarded as property (20 beds).The areal is nestled on the hillside and has a terrace directy at the Marmara Sea.You can make extended walks in the mountains, picnic, trekking, mountain climbing, bicycle and motorbike tours, fish (even lobster), take sunbathes and swim either in our own beach or in several other beaches close to our hotel. ,We have two very good cooks, one from the North (Karadeniz) and one from the South (Akdeniz).
