[avril, 30/11/2011] One nights stay at this small, friendly hotel. Good location for sightseeing and shopping.
Booked because of other good reviews and was not disappointed.
[squeaky223, 09/11/2011] A great friendly hotel within 15 minutes walking of Princes Street. Owners are helpful and the breakfasts are more than adequate. A car is not necessary to explore the many sights of the beautiful city.
[finlay, 07/11/2011] We spent two nights at the Barcelo last week. Excellent location just off Princes Street. Enjoyed views of the Royal Mile and the Bridges from our room. Beakfast selection both mornings was outstanding - much improved since our last stay two years ago. Room temperature was adjustable and therefore suited us well. I also enjoyed an excellent massage from Maria in the leisure facilities as well as an early morning swim in a lovely warm pool. Would definitely return for more pampering!
[stecky, 29/10/2011] Great location less than 10 mins leisurely walk from Princes Street. An added bonus is free off street parking at the guest house and it is easy to walk to locations in the new town and old town of Edinburgh.
There are plenty of good and varied restaurants and eating establishments in the vicinity and the owners are happy to make recommendations.
The Broughton Hotel is small, cosy and well decorated. The rooms are all en-suite with tea / coffee making facilities, tv, free wifi and central heating. There is a range of adapters, chargers, etc. available for guests.
Breakfasts consist of cereal

[jeffjen, 26/09/2011] On a recent trip to Edinburgh to attend a concert, we stayed at the Premier Inn, Edinburgh East. Located on Willowbrae Road on the outskirts of Edinburgh city centre, I chose this hotel based upon the price as it was available for only £39 per night if you booked a month before your stay. This is part of an offer Premier Inn have been promoting for a while now and one which I have been able to take advantage of previously, as well as booking this hotel and also another later in the summer. Having stayed in Premier Inns a number of times previously, I do think that £39 represents great value fo

[hannah_i, 12/07/2011] If you're a Tartan enthusiast, this is definitely a place for you! The Weaving Mill is free to enter and covers pretty much every aspect related to Tartan fabric, from the history and origin to diverse designs and manufacture. The museum section shows how tartan evolved from a simple and practical over-the-shoulder garment, to fashionable clothing complete with pouch. You can also see how the tartan is produced using complex machinery, and even get antique-style photographs for a reasonable fee. In the gift shop, you can find just about everything tartan and Scotland / Edinburgh related - and th

[hannah_i, 05/07/2011] The Whisky Museum is well worth a visit, especially if you're somewhat of a whisky enthusiast. The Museum is accessed via a small whisky barrel ride from the reception desk, where you are shown videos about the long process of producing whisky. You are then led through the remainder of the whisky museum with a tour guide, followed by a tasting session and information about the different types of whisky and their traditional flavours, as well as a peak into the world's largest scotch whisky collection, which houses over 3500 bottles! Prices are GBP 12.50 for adults, which is on the expensive si

[cassandra_the_cat, 03/06/2011] The Hudson is located very close to Edinburgh's main tourist attractions and shopping quarter. It is a stylish hotel with friendly service. Room setup was a bit strange - there were two steps to get from the hallway to the bedroom, why? And the window was quite high up, but nontheless, it was a very stylish Scottish experience.
[jipp05, 31/05/2011] The Edinburgh dungeon is a spin off of the other dungeons which already exist in other parts of the UK as well as in Amsterdam and Hamburg, Germany.
They are suppose to be educational as well as fun exploring the dark and sometimes macarbe history of the cities in which they are found but after visiting a couple of the dungeon in different locations I went to the Edinburgh one expecting it to be a little tacky, fun but certainly not scary and that is exactly what I got.
The dungeons aren't real dungeons obviously but are instead recreations of ghoulish parts of history. They are designed to b

[jipp05, 31/05/2011] The Royal Palace of Holyrood is the Queen's official residence when she is in the Scottish Capital and is located right at the bottom of the Royal Mile so makes a great place to finish your tour of the Royal Miles attractions. It is located near to the Scottish parlament building and also the Dynamic Earth exhibition so you can do all these sights in an aternoon.
I am a huge fan of historic buildings so I was in my element in Edinburgh and the Holyrood Palace was certainly striking and absolutley beautiful.
As part of the Edinburgh pass we had free entry to the Queens Gallery which is located

This middle-range Scottish / French restaurant is a good choice for all gourmets, or for those who would like to exercise their gourmet muscles-- without breaking their wallets
The wine list is amazing and the ambiance was private and romantic. We had the best dining experience in a long time. Our server was great and helped us choose the best thing on the menu. We can’t wait to go back!
[hotbot74, 05/04/2011] Stayed at the Airlie recently. Great room, good food, really helpful owners would recommend and stay here again
[jipp05, 23/03/2011] The camera obsucura and world of illusions is located at the top of the Royal Mile in Edinburghs old town just before the entrance to the castle.
To be honest we only visited it because it was one of the free attractions with the Edinburgh card we had purchased and I was deteminded to get my moneys worth. However I am glad that we went as I thouraghly enjoyed myself and found it to be much more interesting than I had thought it would be.
When entering the helpful girl on reception informed us that the camera obscura show would be starting in ten minutes and she recommended that we start wit

[jipp05, 23/03/2011] I remembering watching the film of Greyfriars Bobby when I was a child and it really affected me and when visiting Edinburgh I wanted to make sure that I visited the momument that was erected in his memory.
To all those people who have no idea just who Greyfriars Bobby was he was a Skye terrier who after his owner died in the 1800's spend 14 years guarding his grave until his death and became a well known legend throughout Edinburgh and later all over the world.
The story of Greyfriars Bobby has always really touched me and the history of the story is both moving and a little unbelievable b

[jipp05, 19/03/2011] While in Edinburgh for a weekend break my partner and i decided to treat ourselves to dinner at Harvey Nichols.
Booking the table was a breeze as we just had to go on the website and chose the time and date we wanted to visit. The whole thing took a couple of minutes and was much more preferable than phoning as now I had a receipt just in case they lost our booking.
As id never been to Harvey Nichols before we decided on booking a table at the brassiere as i wasn't sure just how formal the restaurant might be and I wanted something a little more casual.
On arrival the store was already clos

[tb240904, 19/03/2011] During my recent visit to Edinburgh, I came across Duddingston Loch which is in the middle of Holyrood Park. It's a nice little loch, with loads of swans and ducks and some nice plant life surrounding it. It's a bit like my local loch but not as big. The loch is protected by the Scottish Wildlife Trust because of the rare wildlife it contains.
Overall, a lovely place to visit if you're in Edinburgh and a great place for a picnic.
[christian_jp, 03/03/2011] A sunny day in Edinburgh drew me across Edinburgh past the Scottish Parliament and up the first hill in the Holyrood Park. A steep road, but the chilled wind and sun upon my back was great encouragement. The top turned out to be so much more rewarding.
From the top you see a complete different Edinburgh and you can start appreciate it in a much more different way. The hill is a very dormant volcano, as you may learn from the information platter placed on Calton hill from where you can view the full scope of the Holyrood Park volcano.
[tb240904, 27/02/2011] I love animals and always have. When I was younger, I used to beg and plead for my mum to take us to the zoo every summer. Unfortunately, I only got to go twice in total. My mum was never that well off so we'd usually only go to parks and nature spots where entry was free. I still enjoyed every summer holiday but every year, Edinburgh Zoo would get more animals or run different exhibits and I always wanted to go. So yesterday, while I was in Edinburgh, I decided to go to the zoo myself. I had a great time and I'm glad I went.
Yesterday, I had a strict itenerary to follow because there were
