User review
[tazzywazzy, 15.05.2007] The reviewer starts by talking about Tom Kitchin's recently awarded Michelin star and The Kitchin's recent success. The reviewer mentions The Kitchin's location, saying that it is "tucked away", stating that some diners "can't be bothered to find it". Tom Kitchin admits that he chose the location due to the low rent, but he believes that "if the food is good [...] the custom will come".

The reviewer believes that "(Tom) Kitchin's confidence is justified", as The Kitchin serves "top-notch food at sensible prices". Of the food itself, the reviewer writes that his starters were "simple in construction" and "successful in its execution". For main courses, the reviewer ordered "saddle of rabbit", which "looked like a fiddly dish", but was "an outstanding subtle melange of flavours", his partner however, "wasn't quite as effusive" about her main course, she had ordered the halibut, and had "felt that the cream sauce slightly masked the flavour [...]", however did say that "she would order it again given the choice." The deserts however put them "back on course".

The reviewer sums up his experience at The Kitchin by saying he was "a little surprised" that Tom Kitchin was awarded his Michelin star so soon, as he feels that Tom has "yet to fulfil his full potential", but he is excited that the "Kitchin will get even better" and that thought is "almost as exciting" as the fact that "a major new talent has already arrived".

The reviewer notes that Starters are £7 - £14, Main Courses are £19 - £24, Puddings £5 - £6.50
