[AmAzonka, 11.09.2007] The author informs us that the hotel opened in "June 2006" and that it is located "at the 'posh end' of George Street". According to the author the hotel is "indefatigably girly" with its "street-facing windows", which are "up-lit by pink neon at night". This impression is also because "an enormous disco ball rotates above the pink-carpeted stairwell at all times". Basically the hotels building are "listed Georgian". Its reception desk is "hedged between the two cocktail bars", one of which is "a giggly mix of more pink, silver, and mirror tiles". The other bar is "a more sober addendum to the busy, open-plan restaurant".
Both bars "serve a huge range of cocktails from Daisy Chains to Two Smoking Barrels". The hotel offers also "a popular lounge-bar/nightclub called Lulu" which is located "in the basement".
The author says that "certainly Tigerlily must be heavenly for a girls' night out".
Although despite all of above the hotel offers "nothing frivolous" and "the service is upbeat and professional" as well. Visitors can meet "polite young men with interesting facial hair in the bars" as well as "attractive young women in simple black dresses in reception"
The hotels restaurant "serves a tight menu of brilliant reasonably priced bistro food"
such as "tiger prawns, lamb rump and sea bass". Wine admirers can taste "interesting wines such as Suckfizzle Sauvignon Semillion from Australia".
The "33" hotels "rooms and suites are roomy and beautifully decorated". The walls are painted "by local artist Julie Franchettiby ". Rooms bathrooms "are big, clever and grown-up". Rooms also offers "hair straighteners, Plasma-screen TVs, DVDs, free Wi-Fi and iPods".
In conclusion the author recommends the hotel on "Hogmanay for fireworks on Calton Hill" as well one of the "high-ceilinged Georgian Suites".
