[squeaky223, 09/11/2011] We stayed here in room number 2 with a fantastic sea view over the English Channel. Everything was perfect, clean and fresh. We particularly enjoyed breakfasts, which were like no other. Fresh squeezed apple juice and broad selections of different homemade jams and marmalades. Privately run, the owners were helpful, friendly and advised us on local beauty spots and walks. We are coming back next summer for sure.
Definitely ask for a sea front room for the magnifcent views.
[shainebach, 10/01/2011] our short weekend away was made better due to our stay here...it was great - even our dog - then just 3months olds just loved it!!!right at the sea, beautiful views. amazing BF everything freshly made and extremely friendly owners!!
so worth it.
[joe-from-home, 15/01/2010] Royal hotel is best in Eastbourne for couples, right by beach and sea. Very very cleañ and spotless rooms with friendly staff. I will come back again here for sure. Computer wifi is free too. Breakfast fresh juice and good.
[BurntMatchstix, 27/10/2009] I stayed there with 3 friends in the family room (which was 2 adjoining rooms with a door in between) with ensuite bathroom.
It was great fun. The prices were reasonable. The rooms were very clean with enough storage space for all of us. The decor was simple and cosy. There's also private parking at the back of the hotel.
There's a very small bar downstairs and a charming breakfast room!
My only problem with it is that it's a little far from the town amenities although it's a lovely walk along the seafront on a lazy, sunny day!
[BurntMatchstix, 27/10/2009] The room, although a little small, had a red theme that had quaint style to it.
The ensuite bathroom was very clean and the plumbing worked well.
The seaview from the bay window was fantastic.
The staff were very helpful and friendly.
The road outside the hotel was quiet despite being just off the main road.
The prices were very reasonable.
The restaurant was served great breakfast!!
Lots of activities in the evening such as Bingo!!
[BurntMatchstix, 27/10/2009] The only good thing was the stunning sea view.
The hair-dryer had failed an electrical test but was still in the room for us to use.
We couldn't close the window (it was wedged open constantly).
The decor was dated, bland and very depressing. Not even any flowers and this was the 'Bridal suite'?!!!
Our double bed was 2 singles pushed together.
The tv had only 4 channels (the 1st one was the radio channel!!!)
In the bathroom, the curtains were filthy as was the soap dish AND there were hairs in the bath and on the floor. The bathrobes were threadbare.
The cocktail bar had Sky Sports on

[gwyn64, 11/05/2009] The Royal is a breath of fresh air, literally. Just a few feet away from the beach in the centre of the promenade, with rooms overlooking the pier and a magnificant vista accross the channel, i couldn't believe this place.
Our bedroom was room 4 on the 1st floor. Everything was new and extremely clean and fresh. Dressing table and bedside cabinets were all mirrored glass, with real art on the walls. The windows opened, the sea air was invigorating, the seagulls perched cheekily on the cars parked on the prom and the sun shined all weekend, what more could you ask?
Owners couldn't have been
