[koshkha, 17/02/2009] Staying in Dusseldorf for a recent meeting I had one thing I didn't need to worry about - booking a restaurant. My boss lives near by and was happy to suggest a place and book it for us. Normally I have to choose and then spend all evening worrying about whether people like it or not. Eight of us were staying in the Sheraton at the airport so we'd met in the bar and grabbed two taxis into the city, armed only with the address of the restaurant. We allowed 15 minutes to get there and both taxis made it on time without any troubles.
When we pulled up outside everyone burst out laughing when t

[koshkha, 16/02/2009] We recently needed to arrange a business meeting with about 10 people and wanted to combine it with a trip to a trade-show in Cologne. I wanted to make everything as easy as possible for everyone so I persuaded my boss, who lives nearby, that we should base the meeting around Dusseldorf Airport. The advantage was that everyone we needed had access to direct flights to Dusseldorf and the boss could actually go home and see his wife and kids something he doesn't manage nearly often enough. We threw all the arrangements together very quickly and decided to book rooms for everyone at the Sheraton

[sian, 25/11/2008] The Stone is a great club in the Altstadt in Dusseldorf, however if you do not know Dusseldorf very well, you might have to ask some people to be pointed in the right direction, as it is not in the centre of Altstadt.
You have to be over 21 to enter and at the weekends you have to pay 5 euro entry. The place is always really busy and there is a bar at the front and at the back there is a dancefloor. When you enter into Stone you will receive a card which you have to use to order drinks, make sure that you remember this when you leave, because you have to pay for everything you drank when you

[sian, 25/11/2008] The Schaukel Stuhlchen is a great place to start a night out in Dusseldorf if you like rock / alternative music. It is a place that I go to regularly with friends and is always full and has a great atmosphere!
The place is pretty small, however there are two levels with seating and a bar at the entrance. The drinks are not too expensive, but the majority of people drink beer (make sure that you specify whether you would like a normal beer as the norm is to drink Alt dark beer). You can even order a yard of Alt where you get around 8-10 glasses of Alt beer in a wooden frame, which is a great if

[sian, 24/11/2008] This year (2008) the Christmas Market in Dusseldorf opened on Thursday 20th November. Last weekend I decided to go and see what was going on with my family!
It was cold and there was definitely a Christmassy feeling in the air as we had the first snow of the year! The city was packed (would advise if you can to go during the week) however there was a lot on offer, from small wooden figures to hang on the Christmas tree, to candles and stones and of course a lot of food!!!
Walking around town there is a completely different feel than other times of the year, you get extremely hungry with all

[sian, 27/08/2008] Curry is a franchise in Germany and they basically offer 'currywurst' (sausage with a mildly spicy curry sauce) and french fries. The place is very modern and a good place to eat if you are in a rush.
The french fries are made from fresh potatoes and you can really taste the difference. They also have a wide selection of sauces to have with your meal, some which change every week, for example garlic sauce or sweet mustard sauce. I particularly like it that they offer a 'curry special' where you have a sausage with curry sauce, mayonnaise and onions, not good for the people I am eating with

[sian, 27/08/2008] This restaurant / bar is located very close to where I live and I really enjoy going here every now and again. Eigelstein can be described as a modern German pub, it is situated in the business district in Dusseldorf and many people end up going there after work for a drink or dinner.
Eigelstein is always busy and there are always waiters walking around with kolsch beer (it is one of the only places in Dusseldorf where you automatically get kolsch beer instead of altbeer) so the drinks keep flowing.
They serve typically German food and have English menu's for those of us who have slight pr

[B_O_M_B_A, 22/08/2008] Probably the highlight of Dusseldorf in what is otherwise a bit of a boring place.
[sian, 05/08/2008] Roberts Bistro is a quaint restaurant located in Düsseldorfs Media Habour, which was recommended to me and is my favourite restaurant in Düsseldorf. It is definitely not for everyone, you dont just get dinner you get an experience as well. It is not possible to make reservations and works on a first come first served basis, the tables are jammed together so you will always have other diners very close around you but it is all part of the charm of Roberts Bistro. The place is always packed and loud, however the food is outstanding and the prices are very reasonable for what you get. The menu ch

[ProfMagellan, 05/05/2008] The Courtyard is not a top of the range Marriott. However, this hotel was only recently built and the combination of very modern, new facilities and a really excellent staff make it a good location for those on a business trip who are seeking convenience rarther than luxury.
[giulia, 06/02/2008] Reasonable balance between príces and facilities.
[hugoburge, 10/01/2008] Very happy with my stay here and would go back. Functional and there is the breakfast to look forward to. Staff were especially friendly.
I was picked up by a colleague but taxis look like a bit a of a pain, so remember to book up in advance.
[ProfMagellan, 02/12/2007] This is a four star hotel. It is not luxury. The room was small and poorly lit. The food only adequate. But it really works well. Full marks to the management and to the great staff who showed energy, humour and initiative. The fact that you can be in your room within twenty minutes of your plane landing is a huge plus.
And best of all the internet connection was fabulous. I have stayed at three five star hotesl in the past three weeks which charge probably three times as much as this hotel (this one was around 200 euros) and none offered such easy internet access.
Internet should be like ho
