[more]The Old Station Building is one of only a few remaining examples of Victorian railway stations in South Africa. Completed in 1898, the building ironically has a roof which can support 5m of snow and legend has it that the roof-plans for the station in Toronto, Canada were mistakenly used.
The building is now the seat of the KZN tourist information bureau, known as "Tourist Junction" and is the starting point of various walking tours such as the Historical Walkabout and the Oriental Walkabout. It also houses the African Art Centre which promotes local art including sculpture, ceramics, weaving, embroidery and beadwork.
