Dublin airport is at the moment undergoing some building work to incorporate a new terminal - however i think they are doing really well at having most things running pretty smoothly whilst this is going on as all the walkways connect from the main building easily.
The majority of flights coming and going are the low cost airlines such as aer lingus and ryanair, all of which you can spot frequently whilst here. The airport is actually pretty busy and the transport links to and from the airport are really good - especially the shuttle buses. These operate from right outside of arrivals and you cannot fail to miss them.
The airport has plenty of shops and places to get food and the check in areas are all laid out in one area.
The only snipe I have with this airport which i think will be a thing of the past once the terminal is complete is that the walk from passport control to the flight gates is really long if you are in the area where the ryanair flights departs so I would advise an earlier arrival to the airport to allow for that until the building work is finished.
