Booked this for our 1st family visit to Dubai after reading the existing review and hearing good things about the restaurant downstairs. Just wanted somewhere clean and simple to sleep with good food nearby. Cant beleive the review is of the same hotel!
Was quite disappointed when we arrived around midnight and where shown two different suites. Neither were particularly clean - yes the bedding / linen was clean but the carpets, bath tub, seating etc looked very mucky with black mould around the bath edges. We took one of the rooms as it was late, we had children and we were tired.
As we noticed over the coming days, the carpet was filthy - my son's feet would be black from just running around barefoot for a short period after his bath. The carpet was never vacumed or cleaned during our stay - any crumbs etc we dropped were still there at the end of our stay.
We did end up staying over a week purely because we were too busy exploring to find an alternative hotel.
Positives:
Comfy bed and pillows.
Bedding and towels changed every day.
Quick room service when ordering food from restaurant.
Good view for people watching from the balcony (but it was filthy)
Negatives:
Dirty carpet, sofa and bathtub and mattresses supplied for the kids.
Filthy balcony area - looks like it hadnt been cleaned for over a year.
Limited TV channels - nothing to keep the kids amused
Reception staff not overly knowledgeable or helpful. Fine for the basics, but not much help when asking advise about getting a taxi or when we needed a doctor for our son. Just pointed us towards a nearby surgery - when that was closed they suggested another - supposedly a short walk away. But as we discovered it was at least a mile or more from the hotel.

If you are planning to stay in Deira and not travel around much then the location is great BUT if you want to travel around Dubai, it seems that Naif Rd is the worst location for finding a Taxi and even for being being dropped off. Often took us over an hour to find a taxi - we even tried ringing the central taxi reservation service but we waited 2 hours but no taxi arrived (despite several phone calls). We either had to walk to the Gold Souq to find a taxi or one occasion took an Abra to Bur Dubai in order to get a Taxi - after failing to find one for over an hour near the Hotel.
Taking to Taxi drivers, it seems they hate Naif Rd and the surrounding area with a passion (they work purely on commission and the traffic around Naif Rd costs them dearly). On our return journeys the drivers often moaned when we mentioned we wanted to be dropped at Naif Rd.

It seemed to me that Hotel Delhi Darbar is trading on the reviews in certain travel guides - no attempt has been made to maintain the cleanliness of the rooms. The website is also misleading - when you click on the Hotels link it shows a fancy
staircase - this is form the DD Restuarant next door!!
And it isnt that cheap - near the end of our stay I popped into a few nearby hotels / apts to get leaflets and check prices. For just an extra 10% a night I could have had a much cleaner, updated and better appointed serviced hotel apartment type room - just 100yds away! For 15% more (inc Breakfast) we found an amazing hotel apartment in Bur Dubai near the Grand Mosque - I would rate it 3-4 stars compared to the 1 star I would give to Hotel Delhi Darbar.

Hotel does not provide food - can order from the Restuarant next door of the same name but you have to leave the building to get to it.

Quite during the day but traffic picks up in the afternoon. By evening the outside is buzzing with people - was great to just wander round and soak up the atmosphere.
Very poor transportation - incredibly difficult to get a taxi to and from.
Shopping pretty good for indian / pakistani clothing and for electronics and gold. However, we found clothing, electronics and gold cheaper in Bur Dubai near the Meena Bazar and Al Fahidi rd area.
Definitely not quite at night - just pack some earplugs and you will be ok.
