[more]The Homestead is a 24 room 3 star Guest Lodge in the Drakensberg of KwaZulu Natal,South Africa, based on an English Country Inn. It has standard en-suite bedrooms and family units ( two bedrooms with one bathroom),as well as air-conditioned de-luxe rooms.
The Executive suite with it's Four Poster bed,spa bath and double shower is also suitable for a Honeymoon couple. A Conference facility with accommodation is also available should people want to break free to somewhere to concentrate,plan,team-build,br ain-storm or just build frienships and relax in tranquil surroundings.A well appointed Gazebo and dining room also provides for a prefect setting for weddings of + / - 120 people.
Visitors to this area of the ' World Heritage' site of the Drakensberg can find entertainment for the whole family,having the choice of many places to hike,game view(kwaggashoek),play golf,or participate in many action adventures such as quad biking 4 x4 trails and horse riding.
The Homestead is centrally placed for excursions to the historic Anglo-Boer War Battlefields of Ladysmith,Spioenkop and Colenso.Spioenkop Game Reserve,near Winterton, with it's huge dam lends itself to water sports and bird watching cruises.It is also here one can see Rhinos,giraffe, Zebra and much more whilst on horse-back.(booking is essential).Other important places to see in this area are the Royal Natal National Park and Amphitheatre with the Chain Ladder and the Tugela falls, the second highest waterfall in the world.Cathedral Peak with Doreen falls,Rainbow Gorge and Didima San Art Centre.The Champagne Castle valley, where the famous Drakensberg boy's choir resides and Injisuthi, for it's solitude and breath taking views.
Near to The Homestead (+ / - 16 kms) is Bezuidenhout's Pass( 4 x4 trail),KwaggasHoek Game Ranch where you can see Rhinos(black and white), Giraffe, Hippo, Buffalo,Wilderbeest,Blesbock, Eland and much more and the 'lost Valley',which is a breath-taking unique land formation,a naturally made 'Hole in the ground' 2 1 / 2 kms wide by 15 kms long.There are only two land formations like this in the whole of South Africe,one is here near Geluksburg and the other is near Ousthoorn in the Cape.It is called 'Die Hell' .
All these areas are unique and very beautiful with stunning scenic views and energetic or relaxing mountain walks.
