Compiled for you: The facts!Details The Minster Church of St George

Description: The Minster Church of St George is generally referred to as Doncaster Minster. The present church was designed by the architect Sir George Gilbert Scott and dates from 1858. This current church replaced a much older church that was destroyed by fire in 1853. It is known that a church dedicated to St George has stood on this same spot since at least the year 1061.

Amongst the many important features within this church there is a Harris organ that dates from 1740. This is the second largest example of its kind in England and is second only to the one at York Minster.

The church is kept open at most times and there are various different events throughout the year.
