[magdadh, 12/09/2011] Our last day in Kythira starts late. We have the standard Greek checkout which is at a wonderfully civilised midday and thus can pack up and get ready at our leisure. The ferry is at 10pm, so we have most of the day. [magdadh, 10/09/2011] In the middle of the eastern coast, and facing the ferry harbour at Diakofti, the Diakofti village beach is one of the best "family" beaches on Kythira, with lovely sand and shallow, clear waters ideal for small children and not very confident swimmers. There are some flat rocks in the water and a few sea urchins, so wear water shoes if planning to walk on those. Huge quantities of fish can be seen underwater feeding on fields of seaweed really near to the shore and it's great for budding snorkellers.
