pretty good

[koshkha, 07/03/2009] As a Brit, I'm unashamedly confident in believing that we do big gardens better than anyone else. Forgive me - after all, we don't have THAT much to show off or feel superior about. One year I took my parents and my sister and her partner to a major international garden exhibition in Holland and we strutted around feeling horribly superior about the national gardening efforts of our European neighbours. We are blessed of course with fabulously awful weather that favours gardens (i.e. lots of rain) and with a national obsession with green stuff. [1krispy1, 25/02/2007] I have been to the Denver Botanic Gardens on a number of occasions. However these were always around concerts that my son was involved in. I would listen then leave. This trip was different. I was on a mission. I knew the first thing I wanted to visit was the Tropical Conservatory. It was the Orchids and bromeliads that I want to photograph. It was very interesting. The building has a path that twists around the inside walls and traverses the interior of the tropical forest. I did the path several times, flowers were everywhere and it took a couple of times to get the pictures I was after. [more]

The gardens are presented in "thoughtfully laid out theme" with "15,000 plant species" from around the globe "especially the western United States" it has a very broad range of plant diversity. Plant lovers could easily "spend half a day" at the gardens. One of the major features of the Denver Botanic Gardens, Tropical Discovery" alone is "worth an hour or more".
