[magdadh, 11/12/2010] Best Western Darwin Airport is a newish motel-type hotel located approximately half way between the airport and the city centre (it's not in the airport by any means). It offers single, double and family en-suite rooms of a solid three-star standard and it has a residents' car park and an outdoor pool with a jacuzzi.
We stayed in the Best Western Darwin Airport for four nights following a back injury to one of our party, and we didn't have a car so we pretty much spent three whole days in the hotel, the first night in two rooms as there was no family room available and the hotel staff didn't

[magdadh, 10/12/2010] Darwin is famous for its sunsets, resplendent in reds and gold over the Timor Sea. Apparently, the magnificence of the sunsets is, at least partially, a result of forest-burning fires in Asia. Whatever the reason, the sunset watching is a popular local pastime as well as a tourist attraction of sorts and there are many spots where it takes a somewhat ritualistic character. Hundreds of people descend to the coast at sundown en-masse in order to watch the daily spectacle, and nowhere more so than at Mindil Beach Sunset Market.

[magdadh, 08/12/2010] We drive to the East Point in the 4WD Toyota that our hosts kindly lend us, with the air conditioning at full blast and still gasping for breath. Darwin is hot, almost as hot as Dubai was on our way to Australia. This is supposed to be winter, or the Dry, but the heat and humidity are still hanging heavily over our breathing, walking, sleeping.

[magdadh, 08/12/2010] Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory is an excellent regional museum, well worth a visit and a good browse. The combination of natural and cultural history displays provides a variety that will keep children and adults interested. It helps that it's air-conditioned throughout (apart from the large boat hangar) which means that there is an added incentive to staying inside out of the overpowering heat and humidity of Darwin weather.
The museum will easily occupy half a day, but allocate a minimum of two hours for a decent browse of the highlights. These include the natural history

[trivago traveller, 15/02/2008] My advice to you is NOT to stay at this hotel unless you wanted to be verbally abused by the owner - and locked out of your room if you arrive back at the hotel after 11pm.
We were staying in Darwin as a family member was seriously ill in hospital. We needed somewhere that we could cook to save money and because at the time we didn't always know when we would be around. I totally agree about comments made by other travellers about the shabbiness of the place, but my main concerns were 2 incidents that have led me to write this review.
We were at the hospital and one night and stayed afte
