The 14th Century castle was built for the Nevill dynasty, although the history of the estate goes back almost 1000 years.
The fortifications, embattled walls and turrets have been preserved and can still be seen. Inside the castle are many treasures and works of art including Meissen porcelain, and paintings by artists such as Reynolds and Van Dyck.
