The neighborhood is called “Les Magistrats”, as all of the judges in and around Dakar seem to own a house in the area. The area is safe, peaceful and calm. We are extremely proud of the fact that our hotel is exceptionally clean, a cleaning team patrols the grounds 24 hours a day. The personnel are mostly locals with a European education. The management is Franco-Belgian, The kitchen, the beating heart of our operation, is open to all. You can assist the Belgian chef, watch him work his magic, or just see how nice the place is. An extensive menu is at your disposal, but your choice is certainly not limited to the menu. You have but to ask, and we will try to accommodate you. The kitchen is open 18 hours a day . The bar is open from 8 am until Midnight. To avoid any diseases or stomach problems, we cook with bottled water. Our ice cubes are made of the precious liquid. At Hotel du Phare we give special attention to the “personal touch” We'll try to answer most of your questions immediately, and a guide is at your disposal for outside assistance, so you can get in touch with the local feel and their sometimes strange customs without fear or hesitation. A taxi station and bus stop are a couple of blocks away. The casinos, clubs, bars, restaurants...are 2kilometers away. In Dakar proper, awide variety of entertainments are available. You just need someone to point you in the right direction. Our rooftop terrace is open 24 / 7. During the day, it's a wonderful place to sunbathe, read or just relax. Enjoy the views. You can see the airport and the surrounding village of Ngor. The lighthouse on top of Mamelles Mountain is also part of the view, and touring it is an amazing experience! Dakar's sea breeze and sun will relax the most nervous and uptight individuals. Our small library and TV room provide you with the ability to keep up with the outside world. Internet access is also available. Collectively, we speak many languages, including Belgian, Flemish, French, Dutch, English, German and Wolof Rooms: The rooms are simple, quite basic, but comfortable and extremely clean. Beds are equipped with real orthopedic mattresses, white bed linen and towels. For a small supplement, additional beds can be brought in to the room. There are two kinds of rooms: Standard, with A / C and fan, and with a private bathroom. Basic, with only the fan, shares a bathroom. Our rooms are mostly simple, but range from the “simple duo” where a monk will feel at home, to the “Standing Suite” where even a spoiled prince wouldn't even want to leave! Our rooms are always bug-free. There are no mosquitoes or dust. When the taxi driver brings you to our front door, the receptionist is pleased to welcome you with complimentary fresh juice or bottled water. You can begin filling out the guest card and payment arrangements while we take up your luggage and freshen up the room. Your stress-free stay has begun! Restaurant: The kitchen opens at 7 am. Fresh fruit juice, croissants, different kinds of bread, bacon, 365 different preparations of eggs... and the chef stands ready to prepare any special requests you may have. We want you to start the day with a good breakfast before you step into the excitement that is Dakar. Our food is always made fresh. No risks are taken with your health or comfort. If you would like a very early breakfast or a take away meal, just fill in the breakfast request form and leave it with the receptionist before you go to sleep. The Reception area is open 24 hours a day. The Kitchen and its staff are available all day long to ensure your comfort. You have but to ask, and we will do our best to satisfy you. Our kitchen serves mostly a European style and quality of food. Other services: A totally free WiFi connection is available throughout the hotel. Discounted transportation to and from the airport can be arranged in a brand new taxi. You can get a ride 24 / 7, and if we arrange for it, you'll always pay a fair price. An approved guide can assist you when you go out exploring, both helping you to make the most of your time in Dakar and escorting you through the sometimes strange habits of the Senegalese. Our information desk is ready to answer and inform you on any matter, concern or problem you may have. Arranging bivouacs and jeep tours of the rugged outdoors of Africa, adventure guaranteed.
