[Apterea, 27/01/2012] I have been on the Island of Crete quite a few times and every time that I am in Chania I take the short tip to the ancient city of Aptera just 5 kilometers outside of Souda bay. As you climb towards the top of the hill at Aptera the extensive fortifications of the ancient city appear on your left, huge polygonal stones scattered around, some still forming part of the 3.480 meters fortification of the ancient city.
