We stayed at the Lanzarote Gardens for 7 nights in a clean one-bedroom room at the 2nd floor. We had a package including breakfasts and dinners
We did not like this hotel because everything was done to provide low-level service, the hotel was constantly making economies and trying to make the customers pay more during a stay where all normal expenses are supposed to be included.
The food was of particularly bad quality :
- vegetables were either cooked in too much fat, fried, or served raw, with a limited choice of dressing or sauce.
- meat was not appealing. Typical breakfast products included sausages, eggs, bacon.
This has nothing to do with real Canarian food which is very tasty and varied. Moreover, it is especially cheap and it is not a good deal to be having dinner in this hotel when you have all these good-quality, cheap restaurants closeby in Costa Teguise.
If you are vegetarian, I do NOT recommend going to this hotel because the personnel is not cooperative nor sympathetic when it comes to adapting what they make to a diet that is other european junk-food. The friend I was with is vegetarian and had a very hard time finding anything eatable other (bad) raw salads. Cooked vegetables were so bad that the only choice left is to eat pasta and fries. Great meal...
I wonder if the bad food is just due to their cooks or to the fact that they buy the lowest-priced products on the market. I'm guessing a little bit both.
We have tried several times to ask the buffet chef to make vegetarian dishes, to vary vegetables. Every time, she said ok but nothing ever changed.
There are a few very cheap details in this hotel that we also disliked. For example, even though, dinners were included in our package, hotel policy forced us to buy small water bottles at a very high price (1,70 euros for 50cl) and forbid us from bringing our own, which could be bought at any other store for 5 times less.
Another example is the fact that rooms are not cleaned on fridays and when you ask why at the reception, they just tell you "it's hotel policy, it's in the brochure". Which brochure ? Anyway, the price of the room is not cheaper on fridays.
Any additionnal service is very high-priced.
My last remark is to advise people who do not have kids. Unless you are a real, hardcore, children lover, you may want to go someplace else as, anytime you are in the hotel, you will be exposed to a LOT of family noise (babies crying, screaming at breakfast can be annoying when you see parents who just do not deal with it).
This hotel is certainly not a romantic place to spend holidays. Young couples, avoid.
