Aydon Castle stands in a wooded landscape and overlooks the Cor Burn. It was built as an undefended manor house in the 13th Century, during a rare time of border peace. the house was later fortified in times of unrest and was then used as a farmhouse until 1966. It is open daily (except Monday and Tuesday) from March to September from 10am until 5pm. The admission charges are: Adults - £3.50 (5.25 Euros) Children - £1.80 (2.75 Euros) |
