, 31/12/2010] After being left underwhelmed with Christiansborg slot palace we decided to explore some more of the castles and palaces in Copenhagen of which there a plenty. Next on the list was Rosenborg slot castle which took us some time to find as Copenhagen is not big on having signs pointing to where things are. Luckily it is not located too far from the centre and when you get close the casle is quite large so it's pretty hard to miss it. Krak calls the Rosenborg a "beautiful historic" building, that has inside a "fascinating" museum of cultural history, where some of Denamrk´s "greatest cultural treasures" are shown, just like the Crown Jewels. The castle was extended "several times" and was named Rosenborg in 1624. Originally it was a "small two stored" house. The "Winter room", the "best preserved" room of the time of Christian IV, is covered with Flemish paintings surrounded by "richly carved" deep brown wand panelling.
