[greejn, 11/04/2011] Little Moreton Hall is an Elizabethan and Tudor era house, one of the best preserved and most interesting houses in the UK. It is a timber and wattle-and-daub construction, with an amazing Long Gallery perched on the roof. There is a moat, which you cross by means of a small stone bridge, leading to a courtyard and Great hall. As it's a National Trust property, there is a restaurant and shop and the usual admission charge - about £7.40 for an adult.
The nearest town is Congleton, Cheshire, and it's just off the A34. The M6 runs fairly close too.
