[jl132, 11/12/2010] There are a number of attractions which is said that you should visit when you visit the city of Cologne and Chocolate museum is one of them. Here I went for a visit during the weekend, mainly because I heard they were here a chocolate fountain where you could get free chocolate! Who can resist free chocolate!
The Chocolate museum is a museum on a little corner island, about 20 minutes walk from the centre of Cologne. This museum focuses on the history and how chocolate is made. You can follow the entire production process from beginning to end.
When you enter the museum to start to learn ab

[deekee14, 05/12/2010] The Hotel Domstern is perfectly situated to visit the Christmas markets and the cathedral. The hotel is clean and comfortable and the owners go to so much trouble to make sure you enjoy your stay with them. The rooms were spotlessly clean and warm. The breakfast was fabulous, so much choice and so many delicious home made items.
A perfect choice for a long weekend in Cologne!

[Dalka, 10/10/2010] I stayed at the Koln Marriott in Cologne last month while I was on a business trip. As these days, business trips are each and every month, I prefer to stay at the Marriott as I still have this golden visitor's card back from the time when I was working for the company Marriott in the USA. I can still try some of their discount schemes, but not so often. My boses now are more than happy to pay for the Marriott and I guarantee the work is also greatly done.
What I liked about this hotel in particular was the staff. I have rarely met so nice people in one place. I tend to like hotels, but too m

[kalipso, 02/10/2010] We really enjoyed staying at Hotel Alexander in Cologne. The hotel was very clean and nicely decorated. The atmoshphere was quiet and relaxing. The owner was very welcome and willing to help us with everything we needed (thank you so much Wolfgang), making our stay in Cologne a very pleasant one!! The location of the hotel is really good. It is very close to the centre, and it was ideal for us because it was about in the mid-distance between the centre of Cologne and the trade-fair, which allowed us to easily access both the fair and the centre to enjoy the sights. We would definetely stay aga

[azbkman, 14/08/2010] Since this was my first trip to Cologne, I chose a small hotel because I've fount in the past that staff at smaller hotels are generally more helpful with everything one needs to know when visiting a city for the first time, and the staff at Hotel Domstern did not disappoint. The location of the hotel is convenient to the train station and downtown in one direction, but in the other direction are neighborhoods with a more local feel where we tried some of the (non-tourist trap) restaurants reccomended by the hotel staff. The room was suberbly clean. Breakfast had healthy homemade items, som

[politicalsailor, 11/08/2010] The hotel is wonderful as is most of the staff, weekend staff being particularly pleasant. I was a single traveler and only needed basics, so my room was small but functional. A single bed with my own bathroom, including hairdryer, and plenty of armoire space with a safe if you needed it. Free wifi (which was sometimes temperamental) and two computers with free internet access in the lobby were great! A nice, simple breakfast spread and dining room as part of my room fee. Thankfully on the no smoking floor, although I did still smell an occasional waft of smoke from other parts of the hot

[costas1234, 13/01/2010] I booked this particular hotel which was only a basic place that offered some good facilities as optional extras including massage and other beauty treatments that would be good to some people. The prices of the massage and beauty treatments are competitively priced from what I saw on display in a leaflet left in the bedroom. I paid a reasonably low price of 35 euros a night for two single beds in one room. The problem with the rooms arguably was the room whilst quite big, for two single beds asides one another made the room appear quite cramped slightly. I did like the low price and the clean

[matrixzheng, 04/12/2009] I am a cute lady from Taiwan , Ha! I went to Germany for a conference. Unexpectedly, my focus is transferred to the warm hotel instead of the conference. The third day, I decided to quit the conference morning session and enjoy the delicious breakfast and super cozy dining environment. The kind owner comforted we tarvellers like a big brother when we were exhausted. I am really touched by it! Mr. Wolf recommended us to go to a local bar to taste the local food. The owner suggested that we try knuckle of pork. It was really huge!!! I took the picture and my family asked me why it’s even bigger

[ACLU, 22/11/2009] Overall I was disapointed with my 1 week stay at the Best Western Regent. Although the rooms have been remodeled and are relatively comfortable they fall short in some basic areas. For example they have a large gym but only 4 pieces of equipment of which 2 were not working properly. They don't provide bottled water in the rooms and only place it in the lobby until about 9:00am at which point they don't give water upon request and direct you to the bar. The breakfast cost 16 euros or 24 us dollars when you can walk next door and buy a excellent meal for around 10. The rooms only have liquid so

[topibrasil, 20/10/2009] We stayed at this hotel as we read several great reviews and we were not disappointed.
The location is very convenient, it took us just 5 minutes to get there from the main station.
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
The rooms are rather on the small side, but for us that was no problem, as cleanliness and a quiet neighbourhood is more important than room size!
Breakfast was great and featured many things you usually don`t find in 3 star hotels.
For example each morning had a special Featured country and served typical products from there like salmon for Scandinavia or scrambled egg

[TonyChiang, 25/08/2009] Hi, there:
I am from Taiwan (beautiful Formosa). I was staying in Alexander Hotel on Aug. 10~11 and
I have a very wonderful memory there. In the morning, St.Johannes's bells chimed to give me a wake-up call. Then, Mr. Wolf (that's how I call the hotel's owner, Wolfgang Kiefer) prepared neatly arranged breakfast buffet for guests to enjoy. I had bread, bun, bacon, cereal, milk, juice, fruit, etc, to choose from. Most important of all, I enjoyed my breakfast in a spotless dining room. (Mr. Wolf took care of every detail.) I stayed on the top floor (level 5 I guess). I loved the view there. I

[Oxfordvisitor, 06/08/2008] This hotel is quirky and fun. Each of the rooms has its own feel to it and the rooms are large and comfy.
[sian, 05/08/2008] The Cologne Cathedral is a definite must-see when visiting Cologne, however it is also an attraction that jumps out at you as soon as you arrive in the city.
I arrived by train and as soon as you exit Cologne Central Station the Cathedral is right in front of you. It is definitely a spectacle and a short walk leads right up to the main entrance. When walking around the Cathedral it is definitely a belittling feeling, the building is huge and with the use of an English guidebook (5 Euro) it was much more interesting walking around, exploring the Cathedral.
So, then as with most Cathedral's ther

[MALU, 10/05/2008] HEINZELMÄNNCHENS HOME
The other day I was in Köln am Rhein, the fourth largest German city with nearly one million inhabitants, Cologne on the Rhine for you, Colonia Agrippina for the Old Romans; the wife of Emperor Claudius was born on the banks of the Rhine and elevated her colonia to the status of a city in the year 50 A.D.
I dont know if you associate anything with Köln (the ‘ö‘ is pronounced like the ‘u‘ in burn), Germans think of Carnival, the Cathedral and Eau de Cologne. I won‘t tell you anything about Carnival (I did this already in the review ‘Crazy Carnival‘), it isn‘t the

[hollimac, 30/04/2008] The hotel is in a very good shape. Standard rooms are equiped with Flat-TV, very nice bath, shower, and mini bar. Hard wood floor - no caprpet.
In over 50 nights I had no trouble with housekeeping. Front desk is friendly and they offer a good service. The hotel bar is well equiped and there is almost every evening a crowed of people.
The breakfast is very good and the price compared to it's value is ok.
[MaxBond, 25/04/2008] Charming restaurant with superb service, great ambiance and quite simply the best tasting steak to eat. Being in Cologne and not going to this insitution is a sinn.
