[Alex1414, 12/12/2011] We arrived off the night train to a perfect welcome. The reception staff could not have been better.
Our junior was suite was full of great design features and and the food was also excellent. The location means you are right in the heart of the city but once through the front door it is an oasis of calm. One of our best hotel experiences for years!
[touringdragon, 05/10/2011] Recently stayed two nights in a suite overlooking the Dom: a most enjoyable experience. For service and ambience the Excelsior Ernst must rate highly, and its location is highly convenient. Our suite was roomy, handsomely furnished and very comfortable. All in all, simply splendid.
[etali, 31/08/2011] I had to do a last-minute stay in this hotel, and while I was glad to find anywhere with rooms available on short notice, I was not very impressed with this hotel. The receptionist was friendly enough, but when I arrived there was rubbish in the bin in my room, dirty marks on the toilet, stains on the sheets, and a strange smell in the room.
The sheets were rarely changed during the stay, and while opening the windows got rid of the smell, it always came back the next day. I can only guess it was some disgusting cleaning product they used on the floors.
[etali, 27/08/2011] As a budget traveller, all I expect is a clean room and a friendly welcome, and I was most impressed with Motel One. The staff were incredibly helpful (and patient, with my pathetic attempts at German), and the room was modern and clean.
The selection of food at the hotel bar / restaurant is limited to just simple snacks such as panninis, but the food is fresh and tasty, and the continental breakfast was fresh and nice too.
The in-room WiFi (which you get as an extra if you pay for breakfast) worked well. The "free" WiFi in the lounge was over-taxed and slow on the days I stayed, though.
[leejames, 10/08/2011] great pub. Brilliant banter and excellent customer service. Worth a visit.
[psuhula, 25/07/2011] x home was a perfect start to our vacation. We are a family of three, parents and an 18 year old. We had two separate bedrooms, our own bathroom and a walk in closet. His place is clean, bright, beautiful and in a great location. The breakfast was endless with meats, cheeses, home made muffins, eggs and so much more. The best part was Michael himself. He is so willing to tell you all about the area and his apartment which is full of interesting art. Don’t be afraid to ask. Local cuisine restaurants are nearby. We took a taxi from the train station but could have walked it. Located ne

[Elaine100200, 15/07/2011] It is a nice place to stay for a trip. Everything is perfect, room, location, cat, breakfast, host.......It is worth to live here when you visit Cologne!!
[onthehill, 08/05/2011] If you're looking for a stylish and relaxed B and B, then Cologne Filzengraben should be at the top of your list. The homemade cakes are divine, the HUGE and lavish breakfasts make you feel like royalty, and the apartment is so beautiful you may be tempted just to hang out there all day (this is also welcomed).
Michael is the perfect host. Every care and attention goes into your stay.
The location is great, quiet and a short walk from everything Cologne offers.
We had a very relaxing and special weekend and truly felt we were staying with a dear friend.
We loved Cologne and we loved staying

[Umair, 27/04/2011] I took my girlfriend to Unsichtbar for her birthday. It is certainly its own experience. The staff were really friendly, and the waiters were all blind. After picking out our meals in the lobby, we were introduced to our waiter, who then lead us into the pitch black seating area that was the restaurant. Without any possibility of seeing (unless you cheat with a mobile phone, but what would be the point of coming in the first place then), you are dependent on your waiter to get to and from the bathroom. The adventure of hearing those around you, but having no real clue as to where they really a

[jennifer_w, 21/03/2011] I currently live in Cologne. It’s a great city and has a huge variety of nightclubs, bars, pubs and restaurants. This is one of the reasons I love it so much. It has to be said that due to the large amount available, it is hard to pick a favorite. Having said this, one of my favorite restaurants / bars is Latino Loco. It's located in the old town (Altstadt). It's a Mexican cocktail bar and restaurant. The food isn't exceptionally cheap, but the portions are massive and everything I've ever eaten here has been delicious!!My favorite dish being a simple burger. I have to admit, I don’t always mana

[jipp05, 08/01/2011] Being a fan of modern art the Ludwig museum was near the top of my list of things to see and do in Cologne.
Located right next to the Cathedral it couldn't be easiier to find and is well worth a visit even if you are not normally a lover of art galleries.
It is open until 6pm every night of the week with the exception of Mondays when the museum is closed. The admission is 10 Euros for adults and 7 Euros for everyone else. You can get free admission with the Cologne card which I found paid for itself really quickly and was well worth the initial investment.
The Ludwig museum is housed in a

[pengelking, 05/01/2011] My wife and I were lucky enough to have booked by our travel agent into this hotel. Unfortunately, we both developed an intestinal virus while in Cologne, and ended up staying extra days at the Excelsior.
The staff was so helpful and compassionate, that I did not even mind that we did not visit the other sites that we had planned.
Additionally, the room that we had was just spectacular, with a total view of the Dom out of the windows.
I recommend the Excelsior without reservation!
[jipp05, 04/01/2011] The Cologne Cathedral or Kolner Dom as it generally known absolutely dominates the skyline of the city and was the first thing we saw when leaving the train station. It is absolutely spectacular and so immense that I honestly think you would have to be blind not to feel awed when you see it for the first time.
The Cathedral is the largest gothic church in the whole of Northern Europe and it has also been a UNESCO world heritage site since 1996 and is currently visited by an estimated 20 thousand people each day.
We stayed close to the Cathedral and passed it many times througout the day and n

[jipp05, 04/01/2011] Being a fan of Chocolate I was quite excited to visit the chocolate museum in Cologne as I thought it would not only be a fun thing to do but because I had read they also had a large chocolate fountain where you could taste the chocolate for yourself.
Finding the museum was easy enough as it was well signposted from the centre and it is located right on the river.
The admission price was 7.50 Euro for adults and it is opened until 6pm during the week and 7pm on weekends.
We had the Cologne pass which meant we got free entry but if I was paying then I am not sure I would have thought 7.50 Euro

[jipp05, 31/12/2010] The sculpture park in Cologne was an absolutely fascinating place to visit and definately more ineresting than most museums that I have vsited.
This park was not easy to find and was not signposted well and even finding directions in the guidebook was difficult. For some reason it seems that the city of Cologne was choosing not to advertise this park which seems strange as the sculptures were of an extremely high standard and it deserves to be seen by so many more people.
When we finally found the park I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the park was quite large and the sculptures w

[jipp05, 31/12/2010] Cologne Zoo is a wonderful place to visit in the city for both young and old. Make sure that you leave yourself plenty of time to visit the zoo as it is a large omplex and you will need a good few hours in which to see everything.
We had free entry with our Cologne cards but the normal entry price is 14 Euros for adults and 7 Euros for children. Whilst this may seem steep I would not have minded paying the entrence fee if we hadn't had our cards.
When you enter you are given a map which you will need to that you can find your way around as the huge is absolutely huge and even with the map

[Debs336, 29/12/2010] This is a fantastic hotel for a city break. We stayed in a superior double, which had plenty of room and had recently been renovated to a high standard. The location is excellent - just 5 minutes from the train station and cathedral. The breakfast is outstanding, plenty of home made and regional produce, lots of choice. Best of all were the staff, who went out of their way to help and give guidance on sightseeing and great places to eat out. The building is beautiful and traditional and the area very quiet.
[stevedobo, 12/12/2010] We had three nights here, to visit the local Christmas markets. The hotel is fabulous. Room (Junoir Suite) was comfortable and luxurious. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfasts (every day a different theme) were lovely. Absolutely no noise, dispite being so close to the centre of Koln. We would recommend this hotel to anyone.
[jl132, 11/12/2010] There are a number of attractions which is said that you should visit when you visit the city of Cologne and Chocolate museum is one of them. Here I went for a visit during the weekend, mainly because I heard they were here a chocolate fountain where you could get free chocolate! Who can resist free chocolate!
The Chocolate museum is a museum on a little corner island, about 20 minutes walk from the centre of Cologne. This museum focuses on the history and how chocolate is made. You can follow the entire production process from beginning to end.
When you enter the museum to start to learn ab
