The park spreads over 370 acres of wood, marsh and wetlands, offers plenty of open spaces with facilities for picnics and is home to a broad variety of fauna and flora. There are paths with miles of walking trails suitable for visitors of all age groups and physical abilities, most paths are surfaced and thus accessible for wheelchair users.
There is a stocked pond for fishing, licences are available at Radcliffe's Fishing Tackle Shop in Colchester High Street (daily ticket) or the County Offices for those who wish to purchase a seasonal licence.
The park offers a visitors centre with public toilets, cafe, in and outdoor seating space, gift shop and visitor information.
Admission to the park is free.
