[more]Coggeshall, which came to wealth because of its wool trade, offers its visitors more than 200 listed houses, many of them hundreds of years old. The local parish has prepared a leaflet which will guide its visitors around the village and provide information.
To be seen are many of the local sights, like the 16th century Paycocke House, the 12th century Grange Barn, the 16th century Church of St Peter-ad-Vincula and a wealth of well restored timber framed houses, some of which are home to businesses which have been established centuries ago.
The village has won the Essex Best Kept Village award several times and has also been recognised as the Eastern England & Home Counties Village of the Year in 2003.
The leaflet is available at the parish office at the town hall and the town museum and provided in English, French, German, Dutch and Spanish.
