According to the author the Crowne Plaza is still somewhat regarded as "Christchurch's number-one luxury hotel". He goes on to note its "architectural dominance" over Victoria Square and its prime "central-city location". There is also reference to the hotel's "unquestionably high level of service". The "recently refurbished" guest rooms contain "elegant contemporary furniture" and many of them offer "excellent city views". The hotel has been allocated a three star rating by Frommers, indicating that they consider it to be "exceptional".
