Compiled for you: The facts!Details Market Hall
| Description: |
The Market Hall is managed for the benefit of the nation by the National Trust. It was built in 1627 from the local honey-coloured Cotswold stone and was originally used as a produce market. The town's benefactor, Sir Baptist Hicks, paid for its construction. The building has a slate roof but the sides are open to the elements with access via the arches along all four sides. Traders would have set out their stalls inside, under cover. The market hall is open at all times and has no entrance fee. It is no longer used for markets |
