Chelledun gave four of five stars for the Shedd Aquarium. It is easy to get to "located on Chicago's museum campus, adjacent to the Adler Planetarium and Field Museum". One parking option is "the outdoor parking lot in between the aquarium and planetarium". The "most painful part" of the visit was "paying the price". John G. Shedd Aquarium gets a three of three star rating from Elizabeth Canning Blackwell of Frommers. This is the exceptional rating. Noted as being the world's "largest indoor aquarium" which includes "elaborate new habitats" Shedd is a "marble octagon buildingfilled with thousands of denizens of river, lake and sea". The Lonely Planet Guide says of this aquarium that it is home to "one of the world's largest assortments" of aquatic creatures. Originally housing 200 tanks, the "multilevel Oceanarium" extension offers a "spectacular space" where the glass walled "huge" mammal pools merge with the outside lake.
