[more]The Chicago Symphony Center, which is also known as the Chicago Orchestra Hall, is home to the Symphony Orchestra of Chicago since its completion in 1904.
The Gregorian building was designed by Daniel Burnham and has undergone extensive refurbishments at the end of the millennium which were completed in 1997. The Orchestra Hall now offers an acoustically reshaped auditorium, a music education center and a cafe.
The hall, which was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978, is also located on the historic U.S. Route 66.
The Chicago Symphony Center has been host to many internationally acclaimed artists such as Judy Garland, Benny Goodman, Vladimir Horowitz, Sergei Rachmaninov, Fritz Kreisler and more and has also hosted many lectures, political rallies, tournaments, religious services and other events.
