The annually held Mayor Daley's Kids and Kites Festival offer families to participate in a kite flying event on two days during the year.

If your child doesn't have a kite the organizer will provide you with a kit to create and design one. During the event there will be kite flying professionals who will demonstrate their skills and give lessons in kite flying.
For further family entertainment there are face painting stalls, story telling, food and beverages and much more.
The event is held either at at Montrose Harbor in Lincoln Park or at 57th Street and Lake Shore Drive in front of Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry.
Admission is free.
