She adds that the "biggest shopping complex" in the city is located "directly opposite" and that the is hotel situated in "the heart of modern Chennai"
She found the exterior of the property "very unprepossessing" but was far more impressed by the "gracious public spaces" and "tastefully decorated" rooms, which made her, feel like having been "transported into another era".
The hotel's staff is "attentive" and their restaurant rated as "the best in town".
The author was also impressed by the "super spacious" guest rooms which are "elegant" and come with "top amenities" although "no views" that are worth mentioning.
For special occasions she recommends to book into one of the "striking heritage rooms" which are not only the largest in Chennai but also "luxurious" enough to be "fit for a king".
Frommer's rates this hotel as exceptional.
