[Praskipark, 27/10/2011] Tomar, a town in the Ribatejo region of Portugal certainly knows how to put on a show in July. The Festa of Tabuleiros is a festival that takes place every 4 years; a time when the town is filled with brightly coloured paper flowers. Basically, it’s a ten day street party which takes over this area of Portugal.
This is one of the oldest festivals in Portugal covering religious and cultural aspects of Portuguese life. The highlight is when a parade of young girls dressed in white march through the town in the afternoon carrying trays of bread and paper flowers above their heads.
