[jipp05, 19/02/2012] Outrageous Cabaret Bar has quickly become one of the most popular places to go for a night out in Carlisle and for good reason.
It is located in the town centre of Carlisle and is really easy to find and is only a stone’s throw away from Botchergate where the majority of the city’s bars and clubs are located.
Outrageous offers something different for Carlisle with a mix of music and live acts. The inside of the bar is quite small but they have managed to pack in a stage (albeit a small one) dance floor and seating area. From the outside you can get an idea of what sort of place that outrage

[jipp05, 23/03/2011] As you leave Carlisle train station the first thing you will notice is the cities citidel. The two large oval towers are the entrace into the city centre and they completely dominate the area due to their size and impressiveness.
The original citadel was demolished and the towers that stand there today were built in 1810 by the architect Sir Robert Smirke.
Although the towers are an impressive sight and lend themselves well as a tourist attraction until fairly recently they were in use with the west tower hlding the cities criminal courts and the east tower holding the civil courts. The cou

[jipp05, 19/03/2011] For a small city Carlisle has quite a few good restaurants but my favourite one has to be Gallo Rosso.
Although it describes itself as an Italian resaurant Gallo Rosso is a little more sophisticated than the usual Italian restaurants I go to and there is no pizza to be found on the menu here.
For a special meal Gallo Rosso for me can't be beat.
To get to the restaurant you will either need to drive or else ge a taxi as it is located slightly outside of the actual city. There is a huge car park with more than enough room for your car even if the restaurant is filled to capacity.

[jipp05, 19/03/2011] I used to live in Carlisle up north in Cumbria and I still have many friends who live there so I go up to visit often.
I usually choose to stay in a bed and breakfast that im familiar with as the service there is so good but on the occasions it's fully booked I will book myself into the Ibis.
Now to anyone familiar with the ibis brand the one in Carlisle is pretty much the same as every other Ibis in the country which is somewhat comforting as you know what to expect. There is a 24 hour reception with a bar attached to it and a dining room where you can get meals and the breakfast is served.

[jipp05, 19/03/2011] Tullie House museum and art gallery is a lovely little museum in Carlisle that is so often overlooked by visitors to the city which is a shame as it has some interesting exhibits about the history of both the City and the surrounding area.
It is located directly across from the Castle with a very busy road seperating the two. The council have come up with two clever ways of joining the cities two main attractions and that is by way of the specially commissioned millenium bridge or the much more fun and interesting underground walkway.
The undeground walkway is a must regardless of whether o

[jipp05, 19/03/2011] Carlisle Cathedral may be small, in fact it is one of the smallest Cathedral's in the whole of the UK but this certianly doesn't take away from the beauty of it.
Its situation just outside the main shopping area of the city is lovely especially in summer when there are always people sitting on the grass outside it enjoying the sun.
The grounds on which the Cathedral stands also house a partially ruined abbey, a small cemetary and some houses and the complex looks like a small old fashioned village in the countryside and really is lovely.
The Cathedral itself is a stunning piece of architeq
