The restaurant was founded by Peter Veldsman in 1992 and it has won several Top 10 awards, wine awards and international awards such as the Diamond award of Diners Club International. In 2001 Emily's was invited to move to the Clock Tower Center from where it has operated since.
Chef Johan Odendaal serves traditional African Cuisine and dishes and the menu might include Tabbouleh salad, mussels, ostrich, springbok, boerewors ravioli and Mosbolletjie Bread&Butter Pudding. All food is prepared to order and with the use of seasonally fresh product. Vegetarians and Vegans are also catered for.
The Emily's also offers a wine bar, a Snack and Beer Bar and a restaurant school, the The Culinary Art Institute of Africa, where the students cook under the supervision of Johan Odendaal for the guests for Emily's.
