The author declares Ginja to be a contributing factor to Cape Town's status as "a serious culinary capital" and states that this "all-round dining experience" is worthy of having to "dress up a little" and making reservations "well ahead of time". Starters feature "a kaleidoscope of tastes" and the Foie Gras Variety is described as being "wicked and absolutely worth it too". Although the mains "are a little less showy" they are said to be "no less tasty" and the desserts are touted as "a must". The author also states that an "excellent" wine list is on hand and that the waitrons "are well equipped to make food-friendly recommendations".
