[more]Adjacent to the Company Gardens and Houses of Parliament, Tuynhuys has a rich history as the residence of governors of the Cape since 1750 and in later years the State Presidents of South Africa. From its humble beginnings as a tool shed in 1674, Tuynhuys (meaning Garden House) had grown into the venue for State Banquets and pomp. It was restored in 1967 and would be of interest to visitors who appreciate architecture. Presently it is the Office of the President when Parliament is in session in Cape Town.
