| Description: |
The Cape Central Library is situated in the City Hall, the last major Victorian building to be erected in Cape Town in 1905. The tower, which is often referred to as a miniature of Big Ben, also houses the only carillon on the African continent. The premises are shared with the Cape Town Symphony Orchestra and feature marble staircases, stained glass windows which commemorate King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra, and an organ with 3165 pipes. Regular library activities include a story hour and the varied opening hours are available at the website. |
