I have stayed at The Village Lodge on numerous occassions due to it being an affordable b&b. I find that the rooms are a bit small, although they have en-suite bathrooms with a shower only but are still good quality for money for 2 people on budget. They have a great rooftop area with wonderful views of the ocean and Table Mountain. There is also a swimming pool area on the roof with sunbeds, umbrellas and a bar for guests. This is also a good place for their summer parties that they host on the roof. All in all i would say this is a good place for travelers in groups or couples, but i would not recommend this as a honeymoon or luxury accommodation venue.

I found The Village Lodge to have more of a boutique hotel style layout than your average bed & breakfast. There restaurant is a Thai restaurant which i believe is one of the best in Cape Town. The Village Lodge also has another restaurant but this is not on the premises so i cannot vouch for that. The bar is where you would most probably get the best service from their staff, although in general the servcie is rather slow. Great swimming pool and bar area on the roof.

Not much of a food variety from their restaurant as they only serve Thai food, except for breakfast, where i could have any kind of breakfast. The quality of food is really superb, and so it should be as the restaurant is quite expensive. The bar is fully stocked with all beverages and alcohol. The restaurant is well layed out as more of a upmarket restaurant with relaxing music and fireplace. The service for their restaurant is good but not excellent. All in all a good experience for their restaurant.

Just a stones throw away from Cape Town city centre which takes about a minute with public transport. I believe the De Waterkant area, is known as the gay village of South Africa, and the area use to be slaves quarters. There are plenty of nightclubs and bars in the area but, they cater mostly for the gay community.
