I only live a fifteen minute drive from Canterbury but I have only visited the Canterbury Tales once and that was about five years ago. The Canterbury Tales is one of Canterburys most popular attractions and here you can see a reconstruction of 14th century England.

The Canterbury Tales is located in the middle of the City of Canterbury and about a five minute walk from Canterbury Cathedral. The train station is about a ten minute walk away and the main bus station is a five minute walk away.

The Canterbury Tales is located in St Margarets Church. Inside you will be taken through the selection of Geoffrey Chaucers poems titled The Canterbury Tales. It follows various characters from the 14th century on their journey from London to the shrine of St Thomas Beckett which is located at Canterbury Cathedral.

This attraction is open daily from 10am until 4.30pm and disabled facilities are provided.

Admission prices are £7.75 for adults and £5.75 for children.

Inside, you start the tour inside the Tabard Inn where you can see the life like models of Chaucer and all his pilgrims. Here you will hear how the pilgrims all got together to embark on the pilgrimage to the Shrine of St Thomas Becket. The first tale you will hear first is The Knights Tale, this is then followed by The Millers Tale, The Wife of Baths Tale, The Nuns Priests Tale and the Pardoners Tale. Each tale is shown through life like models of each character; all of them are dressed in traditional clothing and talk in the Old Style English language. Each story is different and follows various themes such as love, bravery and horror!

At the end of the tour, when you have listened to all the tales, you can then view a reconstruction of the shrine of St Thomas Becket.

On your way to the exit, you walk through a long corridor which has been recreated to look like a 14th century market place and here you can buy various souvenirs from all over the world.

The Canterbury Tales can also be hired out for private functions up to a maximum of 50 people.

Summary
I would highly recommend a trip to this attraction. Canterbury is a very historical City and I feel that this attraction brings to life the Canterbury Tales and makes the whole attraction very interesting. A great day out for the whole family.
